FARGO - A woman was found dead and a man wounded early Saturday morning, June 2, at an apartment complex in the 300 Block of Prairiewood Circle South, Fargo police reported.

Police had been dispatched to the scene on a report of a man with a gunshot wound who had been found yelling for help in his garage by another person, police said in a Facebook post.

Police, fire department and F-M Ambulance Service personnel provided the man treatment for his injuries at the scene, then took him to a local hospital, police said.

While emergency medical personnel were helping the man, officers found a female dead in the garage, which belonged to the couple, police said.

A police supervisor said Saturday evening that he could not release the time of call to the scene of the incident or what may have led to the woman's death.

The public police dispatch log on Saturday did not list an incident in that area referencing a fatality or gunshot wound, or had officers on the scene for several hours.

Police said they were not looking for anyone else related to the incident and they expected names would be released early next week.

Neighbors said it is a quiet area, and that they hadn't heard any noises out of the ordinary early Saturday. It was only when they started doing errands about 7:30 or 8 a.m. that they noticed police vehicles blocking the driveway of the apartment complex and a police van.

A man living in the same apartment building as the couple, who declined to be named, said he woke to see "the SWAT team outside of our window" pointing guns inside a garage.

The man said it appeared police had taken the man who had been in the garage into custody.

"It was a pretty wild morning over here," the man said.

Dalton Martell said he knew the couple involved in the incident. He said they were an older couple.

"They are nice, to tell you the truth," Martell said. "He'd come up to me and say, 'How are you doing?' A friendly guy."
